The Apprentice Employment Network & Group Training

Get Employed, Get Paid, Get Qualified.

Ready to jump into a real job and start earning? Group Training Organisations (GTOs) make it easy. We are a network of GTOs across NSW and the ACT whose sole mission is to set you up for success.

When you start an apprenticeship or traineeship with a GTO, they become your employer. This means they handle the paperwork, payroll, and all the official stuff. More importantly, they give you something invaluable: Job Security.

  • Your GTO is your support crew: They ensure your training is top-notch, check in on your well-being, and provide personal support and mentoring until you complete your qualification.

  • Job continuity: If a placement ends early, your GTO works hard to find you a new host employer so your training never stops.

Our network offers hundreds of exciting positions every year in every industry imaginable. Stop browsing—start doing!

What is a GTO

Why choose a GTO for your Apprenticeship or Traineeship.

If you are looking for a secure pathway to a qualification, choosing to be employed by a Group Training Organisation (GTO) provides distinct advantages:

  • Maximum Job Security: The GTO is your legal employer. If the placement with a host company ends, you will not face unemployment. The GTO will attempt to find you a new host employer to ensure your training continues without interruption.

  • Dedicated Personal Support: You will be assigned a Field Officer who will serve as your personal mentor and advocate. They are available to assist you with any workplace issues, provide career advice, and ensure your well-being throughout your contract.

  • Worry-Free Employment: The GTO handles all the administrative tasks and paperwork for your contract and government requirements. They also manage your wages, allowances, and entitlements according to industrial awards, ensuring you are paid correctly and on time.

  • Diverse Experience: You have the flexibility to rotate among different host employers, allowing you to gain broad, diverse experience across various work environments and learn different techniques.

  • Smooth Training Schedule: The GTO coordinates and arranges your formal training (e.g., TAFE/RTO block release), ensuring your study schedule integrates smoothly with your work duties.

  • Proven Success: GTOs have higher completion rates for apprenticeships and traineeships, meaning choosing a GTO gives you a statistically better chance of successfully earning your qualification.

  • Safety First: You will be provided with the necessary safety equipment (PPE) by the GTO before you begin work.

Group Training Organisations know what opportunities are available across a wide range of industries and have branches in many locations, both metropolitan and regional areas. From time to time, GTOs will have available positions advertised on their websites and in various online and printed media. You may be able to apply for these positions straight away. Apprentices and trainees are generally covered by the same employment conditions as other employees. However, they are also subject to the conditions of their training contract. The training contract is an agreement that the apprentice or trainee and their employer sign detailing the workplace based training that will be provided. It also confirms any off-the-job training which is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation.

You may be offered ongoing employment, you may choose to seek other employment or you may decide to further your education through university or other studies. Apprenticeships and traineeships are easily linked to further vocational education and university studies. If your host business offers you ongoing employment, it’s your choice whether to continue working with them or pursue other opportunities. A GTO can provide practical advice on career direction and opportunities assisting you with the next steps in progressing your career.

As GTOs are independent from your host employer, you can speak freely with them about any issues or doubts you may be experiencing. GTOs provide an objective perspective and will discuss your options as well as suggest a course of action. If you wish to complete your apprenticeship/traineeship later on, the GTO can assist with your return.
