The Apprentice Employment Network NSW & ACT and its members call on all sides of politics to support the Group Training Industry in the NSW Election.
We seek support to build Australian apprentice and trainee commencements, their retention and completions by:
- Raising the profile of Vocational Education and Training (VET to parents, schools and students as a desirable alternative to university.
- Incorporating GTOs as a key part of all government young worker job creation initiatives.
- The current Workers Compensation Premium formula disadvantages GTOs. We request an urgent review and change of the system.
- Investing in GTOs to develop initiatives that increase apprentice commencement & completion rates.
- Ensuring GTOs are exempt from any future Labour Hire Licensing in NSW.
