The Apprentice Employment Network is seeking support from all candidates in the ACT Election on four key areas that will reinvigorate the apprenticeship and traineeship market in the region.
Group Training Organisations (GTOs) employs 10% of all apprentices and trainees in the territory. Group Training plays a pivotal role in creating opportunities for apprentices and trainees with business, many of which would be unlikely to engage in the training system without an intermediary such as the Group Training Network.
We are asking all ACT parties and candidates to commit to supporting:
- Creating more apprenticeships and traineeships opportunities by working better with business.
- Exempt GTOs from proposed ACT Labour Hire Licencing scheme.
- Reduce GTOs workers compensation premiums
- Partner with GTOs to create entry-level ACT Public Sector apprenticeships and traineeship.
